Environmental impacts of developing the Beetaloo Basin

An independent scientific program found that prospective gas development in the Beetaloo Basin – including unconventional sources such as shale and tight gas – has “low to very low” chance of impacts on surface water, groundwater, protected fauna and the environment in the region. In addition, the report found with high confidence that any potential for impact could be mitigated with existing strategies.
